Rahu and Ketu are shadow planets, known by their effects – effects on individuals and their life paths, effects on the trajectory of nations. In February 2019, Rahu and Ketu will change signs, called peyarchi. At this time of peyarchi or changing of signs, the effects of Rahu and Ketu are felt strongly. Puttaparthi Agastya Nadi Astrologer Sai Bharathi will be conducting puja to counteract effects of peyarchi on Moon signs and Sun signs.
The scriptures and sastras speak of symbolisms of Rahu and Ketu. Rahu and Ketu are head and tail of the dragon. Rahu is the head. He takes risks and wins big in the start. His pathway is privilege via glamour and prestige. He impresses the audience with clever acts, His capacity, His awesome ability. Yet just when He is within arm’s reach of having achieved His goal, Rahu falls. Ketu is the tail. Ketu-people are scattered by nature, they do not communicate in a coherent, contiguous manner. They swirl like a dusty wind. They flap in the air like a tattered flag, signalling abandonment and impermanence. They are aimless, without anchor, without inner compass, following no direction.
Arthava Veda gives the following mantra:
May we get welfare from the planets and Moon. May we get welfare from the Sun as well as Rahu
The shadow planets affect the destiny of nations, in particular, and more so when they change signs, peyarchi. Rahu affects a lot of the natal chart, aspecting 5, 7 and 9 signs from its location. Ketu, having no head, is said to have no glance, no drishti, no aspect. Strong effect comes when Ketu changes signs. Ditto Rahu.
Rahu is currently transiting Cancer where it is in Purnavarsu nakshatra. On 13 February 2019, Rahu will transit to Mithuna rasi (Gemini), Purnavarsu nakshatra. For a long time, Rahu has been residing in Cancer, sign of the home. As Cancer is the natural 4th house, the appearance of appearance of Home, Lands, Waters, Boundaries have been signified Rahu. Moving to Mithuna – Gemini, the natural 3rd house, Rahu will take thrill in gaining ascendancy through communication, gesture, description, announcements.
Ketu is currently transiting Capricorn. On 13 February 2019,, Ketu will transit to the sign of Sagittarius (Dhanus), Uttara shadra nakshatra. In Makara, Ketu has surrendered to the flow of regulatory structures, the influence of Saturn, ruler of Makara – Capricorn. In Sagittarius, Ketu will be ruled by Jupiter, where the higher education and hierophant activity resides.
